What Have You Of Sale Value In Your House?

This was one of the scriptures that affected me tremendously.

One day the widow of a member of the group of prophets came to Elisha and cried out, “My husband who served you is dead, and you know how he feared the Lord. But now a creditor has come, threatening to take my two sons as slaves.” “What can I do to help you?” Elisha asked. “Tell me, what do you have in the house?” “Nothing at all, except a flask of olive oil,” she replied. And Elisha said, “Borrow as many empty jars as you can from your friends and neighbors. Then go into your house with your sons and shut the door behind you. Pour olive oil from your flask into the jars, setting each one aside when it is filled.” So she did as she was told. Her sons kept bringing jars to her, and she filled one after another. Soon every container was full to the brim! “Bring me another jar,” she said to one of her sons. “There aren’t any more!” he told her. And then the olive oil stopped flowing. When she told the man of God what had happened, he said to her, “Now sell the olive oil and pay your debts, and you and your sons can live on what is left over.” 2 Kings 4:1-7

As I wrote in my book, Creating Wealth, I discovered that prosperity in terms of creating wealth is a result of production and rendering services.

Until the widow of the prophet identified what was purchasable in her home, she would remain poor and her children will be in slavery.

As I also wrote in the series of posts on fool-time or full-time ministry, anointing doesn’t always suffice, finance is necessary for evangelistic impact as in the story of the good Samaritan

We buy Three Thousand Naira worth of eggs to produce snacks from our Home Economics laboratory every week to sell in our canteen. We therefore sell snacks from our house every school day.

My daughter and school administrator also buy eggs to bake cakes to sell in our school canteen.

My wife turned our abandoned concrete fish pond to a poultry and from there we sold those “holy” broilers.

Everything we are doing is still at a miniaturized state. We are learning to maximize everything around us. We will save the cost of the eggs weekly and my daughter will buy eggs from us so the idiotic money that used to leave the family will circulate within the family business before going out.

Note: My daughter will buy the eggs.

We don’t play love with our businesses. We have also converted a dormant part of our compound to effective use. Customers will also come to buy eggs on a daily basis.

How many dormant parts of your life need to be put to effective use?

We are maximizing the benefits of living in a suburban area.

A lot of what we consume in our cities will come from suburban areas. You will notice that Lagos and most of our big cities are fast expanding to suburban areas. The population growth will cause increase in demand for food.
