Understanding The Purpose of God

Speaking at the Bayelsa State National Youth Service Orientation Camp at Kaiama.

I spoke on Maximising Moments, but my lesson about life is on “Understanding The Purpose of God”

Ephesians 2:10: For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk.

The purpose of God for you is the reason you were born.

The purpose of your life is the reason for your creation and experiences—positive or negative.

The challenges, mistakes, pain, tragedies, hatred, loneliness, divorce, imprisonment, etc., eventually work out for good if you love God and find your purpose in Him.

The Bible says all things work together for good for them that love God, who are called according to His purpose.

There is a purpose for your life; find it.

Thirty-five years back, I was in an orientation camp like this at Owerri in the then-Imo State, made up of present-Abia and Imo States. Today, I returned to a similar environment as a guest lecturer, so-called “Motivational Speaker”. I don’t consider myself as a motivational speaker; I teach reality and kingdom principles.

I told them part of my story.

I left for the camp with a mixed bag of emotions. I left a paralyzed father at home in our then-village of Otokutu, which is now a township, resident in a mud house.

How would I take care of them with N200 (about 400 USD then) allowance?

I had an elder brother, Sunday, who was mentally retarded, resident with my aged parents.

My girlfriend then, now my wife, was pregnant, and I had to marry her.

Where will I get money?

My account had a balance of the equivalent of 108 USD.

I was not sure of the the immediate future because I did not know where I would be deployed to. Would it be a village health centre or a city?

You see that crowd of youth corps members with white uniforms? Their problems are not uniform. Mine, then, were exceptional.

To be continued . . . .

God Bless You.
