The suburban economy holds tremendous potential, yet is often overlooked. We are building a community of entrepreneurs who are expanding their capacities through learning and practical experiences, it might just be the key to a more fulfilling and prosperous life.
The Lord spoke to me through 2 Timothy 2:2, which says, “What you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable people who will also be qualified to teach others.” Our ministry’s purpose is to share the wisdom God has given me, live according to His instructions, and teach others to do the same. This is how we can light up Africa and the world at large, by sharing proven experiences and insights.
Discovering the Suburban Economy: For the first 40 years of my life, I lived in urban centers like Warri, Yenagoa, and Aba. Then, I moved to a suburban area to start afresh and pursue my ministry. Here’s what I found about the suburban economy:
- Affordable Land: Land is much cheaper in suburban areas, making it accessible for various projects.
- Cheap Labor: Labor costs are significantly lower, which reduces overall expenses.
- Ample Space: There is more space for expansion and development.
- Clean Air: The air quality is better, contributing to a healthier lifestyle.
- Friendly People: The community is more welcoming and supportive.
- No Traffic: You can move around quickly without the stress of traffic jams.
These factors have allowed me to accomplish a lot in a short amount of time. The suburban economy provides a conducive environment for growth and productivity.
Dependence on Suburban Areas: Consider where the food you eat comes from, mostly suburban and rural areas. The same goes for building materials like wood and sand. Urban areas heavily depend on inputs from suburban regions. As more people migrate to cities, those who recognize the potential of suburban areas can thrive by tapping into these resources.
The Internet’s Role: The internet has transformed the world into a global village. You can now attract a global audience to your products or services from anywhere. By operating in the suburban economy, you can earn more income at a lower cost while enjoying a relaxed lifestyle. Modern technology, like solar energy, has made it easier to maintain comfort and efficiency in suburban areas. My refrigerator, pumping machine, fans, and lamps are all powered by solar energy, ensuring regular electricity and comfort.
Planning for the Future: As my wife and I discussed this morning over tea, a ritual that often results in a demand on my checkbook—we reflected on where we would like to live. While urban centers like Lagos, London, or New York have their appeal, I prefer the peace and tranquility of the suburban economy at this stage of my life. Despite the noise around me from a nearby hotel, bar, and church, I plan to move to a more rural area, build a house with my farm and Petra Institute, and enjoy my old age in peace.
Planning for your future is crucial. I’m happy to say that I’m living the life I have always wanted to live. The suburban economy offers opportunities for growth, sustainability, and a better quality of life.
I encourage you to consider the potential of the suburban economy. God bless you.
