In all your getting, get money. If you get wisdom and it cannot give you money, you will be like that wise man who was a poor man that helped a small city defeat a big city, only to be forgotten. Therefore, in all you’re getting, get legitimate money.
The Reality of Shared Wealth:
- Personal Finances: You don’t own any money with anyone. The money you share with someone is either from a joint venture, shares you bought, or a cooperative you belong to. Even with your spouse, her money is her money, and your money is our money. I recently bought chickens from my wife; we raised those birds together. Though I contributed initially, I still paid a premium price to buy the broilers for her relatives. She is my wife, and I am her husband. I told her I am rich enough to take care of her needs and to stop thinking she is doing me a favor.
- National and State Budgets: The money you own jointly is the budget of your country or state. However, those budgets don’t have you in mind. For instance, in the European Union, the subsidy for a cow is $2.5 every day, whereas, some years back, the budget for a Nigerian’s health was $8 per annum. That means in four days, a European cow gets $10 for its welfare, while a Nigerian gets $8 for an entire year. Learn to budget and plan for yourself.
- Church Finances: Church finances, though meant to be nonprofit and charitable, often don’t serve individuals in times of need. Most people don’t run to their churches for help but to outsiders and family members. Therefore, build your economy outside the country’s budget, the state’s budget, and the wealth of your church.
Building Your Own Economy:
This year, 2024, remove your eyes from people. If you must focus on people, focus on the services you can render to them that they will pay for. Think about the things you can sell to them, the solutions you can provide, and the savings you can help them achieve in terms of stress, money, and energy. If you don’t, you will be surprised that no one owes you anything, not even your children.
Remember, in all your getting, get legitimate money and build your own economy.
