I met a woman here and had a conversation with her.

“Mama, how are you?”
“Fine, sir.”
“Congratulations.”
“Amen.”

“You have been working here?”
“Yes, sir.”
“You worked when we were building this place?”
“Yes, sir.”
“What kind of work did you do?”
“Concrete work.”
“You carried concrete on your head?”
“Yes, sir.”

“Today you are sharing testimony. What happened?”
“My son… he has finished his first degree, master’s degree, and PhD. He is now a lecturer.”

This woman carried concrete on her head while this place was being built, and she trained a child to the level of a PhD. Today, he is a lecturer.

“You have another child?”
“Yes, sir.”
“Where is that one?”
“That one is abroad.”
“You trained that one too?”
“Yes, sir.”
“What is she doing?”
“She is a nurse.”
“She is married?”
“Yes, sir.”

Then I asked her about her business.

“I noticed you used to hawk fish.”
“Yes, sir. I started with dry fish.”
“You were drying and selling?”
“Yes. I would dry the fish and go to the market to sell.”
“So the money you made from concrete work, you used it to buy fish?”
“Yes, sir.”
“And on days when there was no work, you would hawk?”
“Yes, sir.”
“And now you have a shop in the market?”
“Yes, sir.”

Some people say they don’t have money, that they have not reached anywhere. But you can see strength, persistence, and progress.

“Your husband?”
“He is late.”
“So you did all this as a widow?”
“Yes, sir.”

“How did you find the courage?”
“God.”

“You did not get discouraged?”
“No, sir.”
“You did not follow bad company?”
“No, sir.”
“You came to church?”
“Yes, sir.”
“You learned something?”
“Yes, sir. I listened and applied what I was taught.”

This is a powerful testimony.

She is a widow who carried concrete, started a small dry fish business, and trained her children—one is now a lecturer with a PhD, another is a nurse abroad. She is still training her children.

This is someone we need to encourage.

God bless you, Mama. Well done. Congratulations.
