Breaking news.
But before the breaking news, let me remind you that I have a conference coming up on the 1st of May, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at our school, Petra Christian Academy, behind Agufure Motors. We will be looking at strategies for leadership in business and ministry using 21st-century tools.
Now to the breaking news.
The Supreme Leader of Iran, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, is reported to have been eliminated by Israeli airstrikes. This news reached us about two to three hours ago, but we were waiting for verification from mainstream media. Some mainstream media outlets have now reported what the Israeli Defense Forces have put out. According to them, they have photographic evidence of his dead body.
Reports also claim that not only was he eliminated, but several members of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard leadership and members of his family were also killed.
One may wonder: why would the Ayatollah, the head of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, and other prominent individuals be gathered in one place?
Do not forget the Israeli tactic of calling fake leadership meetings. They reportedly used a similar strategy against Hezbollah in Lebanon. Also, remember that ongoing negotiations with America could have been a decoy to make the Iranians lower their guard.
If this report is true, the reactions are significant. In Iran, there are reports of people jubilating and dancing. In Israel, there is celebration. In London and the Netherlands, Iranians in the diaspora are said to be celebrating, some even shedding tears of joy.
I was 20 years old in 1979 when the Islamic Revolution took place and the first Ayatollah returned from France and assumed leadership. I remember the seizure of the American Embassy in Iran and the 444 days before the hostages were released. I also remember the failed rescue attempt authorized by President Jimmy Carter that ended in the desert.
What does this show?
Power, no matter how long it lasts, will one day slip out of your hands. No matter how tightly or tyrannically you grip a people, unless you meet their needs and aspirations, one day—somehow—they will slip out of your control.
My prayer is that we will not see another Iraq, another Syria, or another Afghanistan as a result of this development.
We are monitoring the news. By tomorrow, there should be definitive confirmation and official announcements from Iran regarding this development.
I have always advised that Nigerian Muslims should be careful. Let us not bring trouble into our own house. If you bring wood filled with insects into your home, and lizards come hunting for them, you should not complain. Conflicts elsewhere should not become our own.
Dr. Charles Apoki is my name.
Remember the conference coming up on the 1st of May, 2026, by 10:00 a.m. Send a message to +234 80 21 21 9262 to register. We will give you two books when you register.
God bless you.
