Work More on Yourself and Worry Less About Your Enemies. God Will Handle Them | Josephic Grace

Happy New Year to you all! The year 2025 has begun, and it is an empty canvas waiting for you to define it. A blank cheque, if you will. What you get out of this year depends entirely on what you put into it. Your declarations, your mindset, and your actions will determine how this year unfolds for you.

The Value of Gratitude

A critical factor in success is gratitude. Many people fail because they don’t appreciate what they have. Take a moment to reflect on your blessings. For instance:

  • Health: Some people are bedridden or fighting for their lives in hospitals. If you have your health, you have something to celebrate.
  • Life: Being alive and having peace of mind are priceless blessings.
  • Opportunities: Every new day is a chance to grow, learn, and achieve.

Unfortunately, many people are blinded by ingratitude. I spoke to one of my workers recently and wished him a Happy New Year. His response? “There’s nothing to celebrate.” This mindset is dangerous. He failed to recognize the privileges he has—regular electricity, secure accommodation, and even a child born without complications.

When you focus on what you don’t have, you lose sight of the immense value of what you do have. Gratitude opens doors, while ingratitude closes them.

Attitude Shapes Altitude

Success is not about circumstances; it’s about attitude. The same environment where some people fail is the same environment where others thrive. Whether it’s Nigeria, Canada, or any other place, people with the right attitude rise above challenges.

Your perspective determines your outcomes:

  • Stop blaming others or external forces for your situation.
  • Take ownership of your life and decisions.
  • Focus on what you can control and make the most of it.

As I always say, “Happiness does not have color, thickness, or weight—it is intangible and comes from within.”

Plan for the Future

This year is an opportunity to make better decisions and maximize your potential. Here’s how:

  1. Review and Reflect: Take stock of your life. Identify areas where you need to improve and set clear goals.
  2. Take Action: Faith without works is dead. Don’t just hope for a better year; work for it.
  3. Celebrate Progress: Recognize and celebrate even the small victories along the way.

Lessons from Experience

Over the years, I’ve learned to value life’s challenges. The insults I received in the past gave me insights that have propelled me to where I am today. I’ve been married for 40 years—an achievement I deeply treasure. My wife and I are far from perfect, but we’ve made the best of who we are.

Your life has immense potential. Don’t dismiss yourself or your abilities. The year ahead holds incredible opportunities, but it’s up to you to seize them.
