Insight into Why Sarah Called Abraham Lord

When Sarah called Abraham “Lord,” it wasn’t just a sign of submission; it was a reflection of the qualities I believe Abraham embodied. Her use of “Lord” was an acknowledgment of his direction, leadership, authority, provision, and satisfaction. This mirrors the sentiment in the biblical phrase, “The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.”

If women are to be considered “daughters of Sarah,” then I believe men should strive to be “sons of Abraham.” This means men should emulate Abraham’s actions and traits, particularly those that allowed him to provide for and lead his household. The relationship between Abraham and Sarah serves as a model for a dynamic where the man provides leadership and provision, and the woman, in turn, offers respect.
