In every dispensation, God has preserved a remnant—a group of people who refuse to bow to the pressures of the world or compromise their faith. This truth is exemplified in the story of Elijah, who believed he was the last prophet standing, only to learn that 7,000 others had not bowed to Baal. Today, despite the confusion and disillusionment many experience within the church, there are still individuals and organizations faithfully serving God and humanity.
The Work of Evangelist Samson Ojakovo
Evangelist Samson Ojakovo, founder of the Ojakovo Foundation, stands as a shining example of a remnant in our generation. A Baptist evangelist, businessman, and philanthropist, he embodies the call to serve others through rural evangelism and medical outreach.
At one of his programs in ARA, I witnessed first hand the impact of his foundation. Eye surgeries were performed for free by ophthalmologists, and lives were transformed. People who had lived in darkness for years could suddenly see, their joy palpable. Ojakovo didn’t lay hands on them; instead, he collaborated with medical professionals to bring healing. This is a model worth emulating and supporting.

The Testimony of New Covenant Church, Ikorodu
Another inspiring story comes from the New Covenant Church, Ikorodu Center. A recent free medical outreach organized by the church included eye surgeries for people in need. One Yoruba woman, blind for years, underwent surgery and saw her family’s faces for the first time. Her emotional testimony highlights the power of compassionate ministry.
The church’s outreach reminds us of Jesus’ words: “When I was hungry, you gave me food; when I was thirsty, you gave me drink…” True Christianity extends beyond the pulpit; it reaches the streets, touching lives in tangible ways.
The Call to Practical Christianity
As believers, we must move beyond religiosity to practical acts of love and kindness. In today’s challenging economy, many people live in despair, struggling to survive. The church has a divine mandate to step in and provide relief.
We often accumulate possessions we don’t need while others lack basic necessities. Why not organize donations of clothes, shoes, and food for those in need? Why wait until someone dies in poverty to give them a grand burial? Let’s care for people while they are still alive.
I once encountered a beggar who said, “Sir, not all of us are mad or lazy. Some of us are truly hungry.” That moment changed my perspective. We must be the hands and feet of Jesus, bringing a little heaven to those practicing for hell on earth.
A Vision Worth Supporting
There are many organizations and individuals doing extraordinary work in alleviating suffering, like the eye hospital in Ethiopia, where surgeons travel to rural areas, perform surgeries, and train local doctors. Such initiatives remind us that resources follow vision.
If the church embraces this mindset, it can transform communities and win souls for Christ. The testimonies from Ojakovo Foundation and New Covenant Church are proof that God is working through His remnants.
Final Thoughts
Let us commit to being part of this remnant. Whether through donations, volunteering, or simply spreading the word, we can make a difference. When we serve others, we serve Christ Himself.
God bless you.
