Recognizing Your Pathway to Recognition Is Key to Fulfillment. | Find Yours

I’m Dr. Charles Apoki, here to share a bit about the journey toward fulfillment and recognition—how it may look different for each of us, yet it carries a powerful and personal impact on our lives. Just recently, I received an award from the Delta State Government’s Office of Tourism, recognizing my commitment to mentorship over the years. And it struck me that this journey—one I began as a Sunday School teacher in Aba—has culminated in moments I never anticipated.

I recall how I started mentoring young people from the humble Sunday School platform, sharing life lessons and providing direction. My wife recognized the calling early on, often telling me that my ministry belonged with young people. There were days it felt as if I were speaking into a void. I would encourage and advise, give transportation money to some, and simply keep showing up. However, I stayed consistent, determined to model a life worth emulating, pouring into them without expecting immediate rewards.

It’s been a long road, but the results are beyond gratifying. Seeing individuals I once mentored rise to prominence across different sectors—knowing I played a part in their journey—is a reward of its own. The Delta State Government acknowledged this commitment, and, earlier in the year, I also received an award from Dr. Charles a tech entrepreneur and former mentee, who is now a global figure. To see these young men and women come full circle, honoring me as they walk their paths, is truly fulfilling.

One of today’s recipients was Dr. Bara Jeremiah Orhar, the Crown Prince of Ho Kingdom. This recognition, in itself, reminded me of a profound moment when God led me to mentor him with a clear purpose. And now, he publicly acknowledges me as his mentor—just as God once promised. These rewards and recognitions reflect the seeds I’ve sown over decades, emphasizing that, even if it takes time, consistency and patience yield results.

My pathway to recognition might look different from yours or someone else’s. I wasn’t chasing fame or wealth; my path centered around empowering others, equipping them to succeed. If you’re pouring into others, keep at it—don’t let the results, or lack thereof, discourage you. The journey is long, but if you’re consistent, the impact of your work will eventually manifest.

We live in a world that celebrates the visible achievements of the few, but the fulfillment lies in knowing your own path and committing to it. As I promised God, I’ll continue to share what He has taught me with as many people as possible. My heart is full as I look back at how God has made me a “grandfather” to so many and, as some joke, even a “great-grandfather” to others’ success.

To everyone reading, keep pressing on, knowing that each step you take—each seed you plant in others’ lives—has a purpose. Don’t give up on your path; it will lead you to places you never imagined.

Blessings to you all,
Dr. Charles Apoki, your Area Grandfather
