H.E. Dr Alex Otti and the National Grid Collapse. What You Don't Know

The recent collapse of the national grid a few days back did not affect Abia State because, as at December, they had taken over electricity generation in the state. They are generating electricity from waste materials . So Abia State is generating its own power.

Aba and Abia State in general are manufacturing hubs . And so, with power being generated locally, one of the major constraints to production has been significantly reduced:

Reduction in the cost of diesel

Reduction in the cost of procuring big generators

Reduction in maintenance costs

Reduction in carbon emissions

So this man is planning and thinking far beyond politics.

If Abia State is generating its own energy, and I even heard him say they will distribute to nearby states, that is outstanding .

This is something that should be emulated by every state in the country.

Let’s take Enugu State for example. They have coal. They can use clean coal technology to generate energy that will power industries in Enugu. They can sell to Anambra State, Cross River State, Benue State, and others.

If governors are performing the way Alex Otti is performing, then within a short while, the whole country will change

In fact, the clamour for the presidency will reduce. If somebody from Taraba State is president and the governor of Taraba State is not doing well, their people will suffer. But if their governor is doing well, they won’t bother too much about who the president is. The president will just formulate policies.

If we set up state police systems, security will improve . With good roads, good healthcare facilities, and security, nobody will run overseas to stay.

If all the governors in the East — Imo, Abia, Ebonyi, Enugu, Anambra States — develop the region such that:

There is regular electricity

Good roads

Employment through functional industries

State security systems

then the agitation for Biafra will reduce.

The agitation exists because people do not have a sense of belonging and a sense of security.

And what is security? Security is a guarantee of a future.

If local government councils perform the roles they are meant to perform — in the East and all over Nigeria — you will find that the clamour for presidency, for states, for Biafra, for separation, will reduce drastically.

Why is Otti thinking differently?

Because he has managed a bank, managed businesses, and managed institutions that worked. He even said himself that he and his children are billionaires. He didn’t go there to steal. He didn’t go there for self-aggrandisement.

He knows how institutions are run.

Don’t elect people who have not excelled before. This is not an issue of tribe. Otti is not only developing his local government or his place of origin. The whole state is benefiting.

Even me, when I went to Aba — and I am not an Igbo man, though I grew up there — I had a sense of well-being . I had a sense of joy.

If Rivers State is fine, Bayelsa is fine, Anambra is fine, I don’t need to go anywhere. I would rather go to Obudu Ranch or Ikogosi Warm Springs for a holiday than buy a ticket and travel far. I would prefer Olumo Rock, Yankari Game Reserve, Mambilla Plateau.

This country can change.

It is not about Yoruba, Igbo, Hausa.

No. We should look for good people.

Not tribesmen.

Not party men.

Good people.
