Recently, a TikTok video allegedly surfaced showing the NYSC girl who made the viral video about her struggles in Lagos. In the video, she was supposedly enjoying herself, and now, some people want to use it to blackmail her and discredit her complaints.
Let’s be clear—what does a video of her eating yam chips and seafood, wearing a dress with a thigh slit, and drinking Chapman with lemon have to do with the cost of living crisis she spoke about? People wear similar outfits to church. Someone probably took her out, most likely a man. So what? How does that change the reality of expensive eggs, high transport fares, costly electricity, and data bills?
This is a well-known strategy. When Joan Nunieh, the former NDDC boss, spoke up about corruption and sexual harassment, the next thing we heard was that she had multiple husbands and children. How does that affect her competence? When Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan alleged sexual harassment, suddenly, there were false claims about the number of children and husbands she had. It later turned out she had only been married twice. These are tactics meant to discredit and silence women who dare to speak.
I have seen this play out for years. I remember when assassins came to my hospital over 25 years ago to silence me. I know their tactics. Why do we hate the truth so much? Why must we always drag someone down when they speak against societal ills? When they brought a woman caught in adultery to Jesus, he told them, “He who is without sin should cast the first stone.”
Now, let me ask you: those attacking this NYSC girl, have you not taken women to clubs before? Have you not taken corps members to nightclubs? Have you not taken people’s wives out before? The women attacking her, have you not been taken out before? Has your father never taken women out? Hypocrisy is destroying this nation!
I once wrote something on Facebook, and someone suddenly accused me of being on a dating site. I don’t have time for dating sites! These are all Satanic distractions. The Samaritan woman Jesus met at the well had five husbands, and the one she was living with wasn’t even her husband, yet she spoke the truth, and her testimony brought an entire village to Jesus.
If you don’t want to speak, let those who can speak do so! Why are you obsessed with exposing the girl’s personal life instead of addressing the cost of living crisis? Why must we always shift focus from the real issues? That’s how someone went to a public event and, instead of discussing the main topic, started talking about the skin color of another speaker. How does that help Nigeria?
We don’t need angels to change this country. We need bold, reasonable, and truthful people—people who hate the decay in our system. Even if angels descend, if they are not careful, Nigerians might corrupt them too!
That girl’s video is irrelevant. Even if you show me explicit content of her, it won’t change the fact that she spoke the truth. Someone once released explicit tapes of a lady to shame her, yet King Charles still invited her to his coronation. But you, who posted it, where are you? Who even knows you?
If God could use a donkey to speak to Balaam, He can use anyone to speak the truth. If He could call Nebuchadnezzar, a Babylonian king, “My anointed,” then He can anoint anyone to speak the truth. Stop using outdated tactics to silence this generation. These young people are not like us. They will speak, even if they are naked, even if they have dreadlocks. You cannot silence them!
I know their next move. They will likely try to extend her NYSC service or frustrate her. But she has rights! She has the right to leave, to stay, to work or not to work in Nigeria. Mark my words, this girl will not be at your level in the future. I just read her father’s story; I will address that soon.
Enough with these primitive tactics. We need change! If we keep suppressing people who tell the truth, we will never progress.
I remain Dr. Charles Apoki.
Remember, don’t be afraid to speak! We don’t need angels to change this nation; we need angry, patriotic citizens to act!
God bless you!
