How to Turn Hatred and Discrimination to an Asset | Josephic Wisdom

Happy New Year! I am Dr. Charles Akpoki, and today I want to share with you a powerful lesson on how to transform hatred, discrimination, and adversity into an advantage. Life is your investment, your game. Do not let anyone else live your life for you. You can serve others, but always preserve your dignity, self-worth, integrity, and legacy.

The Game of Life

This life is your game, and you must play it by your own rules. Many people, like viruses, will attempt to invade your space and take control of your life. Just as a virus disrupts the body, such people bring negativity and chaos. Prevent this by protecting your mind and your boundaries. Even in marriage, couples need personal spaces to grow and remain themselves. Over-intensity in relationships often leads to burnout. Learn to maintain your individuality within any partner

The Power of Isolation

Sometimes, isolation can be a blessing. Just like Joseph, who was hated and sold by his brothers, you can use moments of adversity to strategize and become more productive. Joseph’s story shows us how to navigate hatred with wisdom. When presenting his family to Pharaoh, he chose only five brothers who were presentable and would not jeopardize the opportunity. This strategic move ensured their acceptance and prosperity.

Similarly, when people misunderstand or hate you, focus on proving them wrong through competence and excellence. Hatred can become a catalyst for growth if you channel it correctly.

Strategic and Proactive Living

Joseph’s wisdom teaches us the importance of understanding others’ dispositions. He knew Pharaoh’s preferences and presented his family accordingly. This strategy earned them royal employment and a favorable settlement in Goshen. This principle applies to life: know your audience, customers, and stakeholders. Avoid wasting time on fringe relationships or non-contributors who drain your energy. Focus on building meaningful, productive connections.

The Legacy of Family Businesses

Joseph’s family had been shepherds for generations. This continuity is a lesson for African families, where businesses often die with the founders. Many successful families globally, from the Rothschilds to the Berettas, have sustained their enterprises for centuries. African families must prioritize transgenerational inheritance, ensuring that businesses and legacies endure. My family has embraced this principle by expanding into education and healthcare while ensuring continuity in other ventures.

Eternal Impact and Righteous Living

Joseph’s father, Jacob, despite his hardships, blessed Pharaoh. This act of blessing reflects the importance of leaving a positive impact on others. Jacob’s life reminds us that ill-gotten wealth brings no lasting joy. Instead, righteous living leads to pleasant and fulfilling days. As we build our legacies, let us focus on values that bring enduring satisfaction.
