I am your friend, Dr. Charles Apoki. Today, I want to share insights from a message I delivered in church when my pastor gave me the opportunity to speak. Although I no longer run a church, I attend one and have a pastor who pastors me. During my session, I spoke on five key themes: prayer, potentials, prosperity, posterity, and added a bonus—predictive speculations for 2025 and beyond.
Living in the Future: 2025 and Beyond
I’ve already started living in 2025. The transition from one year to another is not about a fresh start but a continuation—years cascade into each other. For example, the exchange rate of the dollar to the naira in 2025 will result from economic decisions made in 2024. Globally, leadership often lacks the political will and intellectual sagacity to manage emerging complexities. That means we’re entering a period of heightened VUCA:
Volatility: Markets and geopolitical situations will become more unstable.
Uncertainty: Economic indices will remain unpredictable.
Complexity: Events, like ongoing conflicts, will generate intricate ripple effects.
Ambiguity: Outcomes of major decisions will be harder to predict.
Turning Prayer Into Action
Prayer is communication with divinity, yourself, and your environment. It unlocks the latent potential in what you already have. For instance, when Jesus lifted loaves and fish in thanksgiving, He tapped into divine presence, multiplying their potential. Similarly, your prayers should align with actionable steps—a combination of faith and effort.
Maximizing Potentials
Every one of us has potential, but its outcome depends on how it’s deployed. Consider this:
A young girl with potential might become Miss Universe or face setbacks if she mismanages her attributes.
A person skilled in tracking could become a world-class detective or just a hunter.
Your potential is only as impactful as your ability to harness and direct it positively.
From Prosperity to Posterity
Prosperity must lead to posterity—a legacy that endures beyond your lifetime. Recently, I shared testimonies in church about small acts of giving that sparked larger blessings. A $200 contribution from one listener encouraged another to donate ₦500,000 for micro-businesses. Inspired by this, I matched the amount with ₦500,000 from my own funds. These investments will help women and widows create sustainable livelihoods, turning today’s prosperity into tomorrow’s posterity.
Practical Principles for 2025
Dependence on God: Faith remains the foundation of resilience.
Amplify Your Efforts: Small actions can trigger exponential results. For example, in 2 Kings 4, the prophet Elisha helped a widow turn a little oil into wealth through guidance and encouragement.
Invest in People: Delegate tasks to those more capable than you, creating mutual prosperity.
Leverage Inspiration: Innovative ideas often lead to financial success. Recently, I was inspired to design t-shirts with motivational slogans. This simple idea has the potential to become a profitable online business.
The Seven I’s to Pray For
To navigate the coming years, pray for these essential elements:
Information
Inspiration
Instinct
Insight
Intuition
Instructions
Impartation
Building a Legacy
Posterity involves creating systems, businesses, and intellectual property that outlive you. From Walmart in the U.S. to Dangote’s enterprises in Africa, great legacies start with a vision for the future.
Closing Thoughts
As we enter 2025 and beyond, think about how your actions today will resonate tomorrow. Pray, act, and build systems that amplify your efforts. Remember the five P’s: Prayer, Potentials, Prosperity, Posterity, and Predictive Speculations.
