I’m here to share something inspired by this fantastic monument in honor of Christopher Columbus here in Barcelona. There’s a story about Columbus I’d like to tell you—a story that speaks to resilience and timing.
When Columbus set sail, he had one goal: to find a sea route to India. America was already here, yet Columbus went down in history as the man who “discovered” it. A lot of folks have opinions on that, as the land wasn’t new, but that’s beside the point. The story goes that while he was still searching, his crew grew frustrated. They were tired and losing hope, so they demanded he turn back. Columbus, determined, told them to wait just three more days. And as it happened, land came into view—land that turned out to be the United States. It wasn’t India, but what he stumbled upon was significant.
This teaches us something profound: Don’t lose hope too early. Sometimes, our breakthrough lies just beyond our frustration. At the edge of giving up, the next step could be your success. Just push a little further, and you’ll see what lies ahead.
Look at this amazing structure—a testament to Columbus’s influence. The architecture and preservation are impressive. The attention to detail here, from the buildings to the artwork, is beautiful. The structure is more than a monument; it’s a tourist attraction, drawing thousands of people, bringing in revenue, and creating jobs. And this brings me to a principle I’ve always believed in: where there’s an audience, there’s money. It’s a principle I’ve seen in business too. When people gather, they bring value—because they bring money.
Here, they didn’t just build a monument. They’ve created surrounding businesses—boat rides, cable cars, museums—all strategically placed to benefit from the crowd. It’s the same principle I applied when running a school. Students came for education, but they needed food, so we had a canteen. They needed transport, so we had buses. One main offering, and several supporting ones, created around the needs of the people.
The inspiration I get here is more than historical; it’s practical. As we plan to build our school in Afowa, I’m thinking beyond just a school. It’s about creating something so valuable that people want to visit and learn from it. It’s about influence and expanding that influence.
By the way, on the 8th and 9th of November, I’ll be speaking about becoming a person of influence. If this resonates with you, join us! Just send a WhatsApp message to +23480 2121 9262 to get details.
Remember, just because you don’t see immediate results doesn’t mean success isn’t on the horizon. Keep pushing, and stay blessed!
