Today, I want to speak directly to parents and children. It is a thing of great joy when the children we labor to raise, whose school fees we struggled to pay, and for whom we made sacrifices—like buying flight tickets for them to go overseas—become successful enough to book hotels, buy our flight tickets, and host us abroad.
Parents, the time and effort you invest in your children will always pay off. Training your children, giving them the right values, and providing them with the necessary education is essential. This is not just about sending them to school but also equipping them with the character and discipline they need to succeed in life. When you plant these seeds, they will grow, and the harvest will be sweet.
Young men and women, I urge you—don’t fail your parents. The sacrifices they made for you, the struggles they endured, and the hard work they put into your upbringing deserve to be honored. You are not only your parents’ legacy, but you are also their reward for all they have done. Make them proud by becoming responsible, successful, and by caring for them in return.
There is nothing quite as fulfilling as being able to give back to those who gave so much for you. I encourage you to strive for success, not just for yourself, but for the joy and pride it brings to your parents.
I remain your friend,
Dr. Charles Apoki
God bless you.
