I’m Dr. Charles Apoki, and today I want to share some valuable principles to apply when you feel stuck in life—when it seems like you’re not making progress, or when your destiny feels like it’s stalled by the roadside as others speed past you. Here’s what you need to do
1. Evaluate Your Situation
When I turned 40, I took a hard look at my life and realized I was in the wrong place. I was surrounded by people who valued money over intellectualism, and my gifts weren’t appreciated. The ministry I was involved in at the time focused on quick, shallow successes. I had to ask myself if I was in the right environment and with the right people. If you’re feeling stagnant, evaluate your life—are you where you need to be? Are you getting the right results?
2. Utilize Your Education
Your education is a powerful tool. I realized that my strength was in my education, so I used it to my advantage. I found that I could preach and teach with a unique depth of understanding, which set me apart. I poured this knowledge into books and CDs, which also became a source of income. Use your education or any specialized knowledge you have to create value and distinguish yourself.
3. Leverage Your Experiences
Your past experiences shape you and can be leveraged for future success. My work in men’s fellowships, my interactions with business-minded individuals, and my travels across Africa gave me invaluable insights. The experiences I gained from running schools and ministries became the foundation for running successful ventures today. Reflect on your own life experiences—how can you use them to your advantage?
4. Gain Exposure
Exposure to different people, environments, and ways of thinking broadens your perspective. My exposure to various ministries, cultures, and people helped me manage life differently, even in the face of criticism or jealousy. If you’ve lived in different places or been exposed to diverse cultures, use that to your benefit. It will allow you to approach situations with a fresh and effective mindset.
5. Be Enterprising
Hard work and an enterprising spirit are essential for success. I brought the industrious spirit of Igboland into everything I do, and it has served me well. If you’ve been in environments where hard work is valued, such as in the military or abroad, bring that drive into your current pursuits. Be proactive and take initiative in everything you do.
6. Maintain Enthusiasm
Enthusiasm is the fuel that drives you to excel. When you approach your work with passion and enthusiasm, it affects not only your results but also the lives of others around you. I do everything as if it’s my last chance to make a great impression. Small tasks, when done with the right mindset, can bring great rewards.
If you are relocating or transitioning into a new phase of life, do things that others are neglecting but with a mindset of greatness. The combination of hard work, exposure, and enthusiasm will attract money, influence, and success your way.
I have shared a few principles from my upcoming seminar Becoming a Person of Influence, which will take place on the 8th and 9th of November. It’s an online event, and I’ll be teaching more about how to position yourself for success. If you’re interested, send a message to +2348020219262 to register.
