Lessons From Davido and Chioma’s Marriage Ceremony | The Rich Speak One Language: Money

“Money answereth all things” was in big display at the famous celebrity (Davido’s) wedding. If the access was not strictly restricted, I wonder what would have become of Lagos traffic. That is the power of money, everyone wants to reckon with you.

Unity in Diversity

One of the most striking aspects of Davido’s wedding was how it unified Nigeria. I saw him in different traditional attires, representing various tribes in Nigeria. It was as if the old national anthem’s line “tribe and tongue may differ, in brotherhood we stand” was exemplified at the event. People from all tribes in Nigeria attended, demonstrating unity in diversity.

Transgenerational Wealth

A key lesson from Davido’s family is the importance of transgenerational wealth. Davido’s father is wealthy, his uncles are wealthy, and his grandmother was also wealthy. To achieve this kind of enduring wealth, someone in the family has to pay the price to create the first seed of wealth that subsequent generations can build upon. Davido and his uncles have done an excellent job of multiplying and building upon their inherited wealth.

Talent Pays

Another important lesson is that talent pays more than certification. Davido’s talent has garnered him a massive following, which translates into wealth. In any field, the size of your audience will determine your level of success. Therefore, whatever you do, aim to create and grow an audience.

The Universal Language of Money

Nigerians speak one universal language: money. At Davido’s wedding, people from different parts of the country came together, and the language they spoke was money. Despite regulations against spraying Naira, they brought bundles of dollars. This shows that Nigeria is not really a poor country; it’s just that the proportion of poor people is higher than the rich.

Overcoming Adversity with Success

Davido’s story also teaches us that success can silence criticism. When he lost his child, people said all kinds of things. But today, their voices are drowned out by the sound of celebration. This shows that as long as you are successful, you can overcome any adversity and silence your critics.

God bless you
