Mistakes You Must Never Repeat

I got to Warri in 1963 as a child; then, there was a wooden bridge between Upper and lower Erejuwa. There was a wooden bridge between Obahor and Father Healy area of Warri.

It was in my presence that the first trees in Okumagba Layout were uprooted; it was the same with Airport Road and many of the areas that are outside the old part of Warri from the market to GRA, down to Igbudu, Iyara, Marine Quarters, etc. My father did not buy any land; instead we cut rubber trees and split them for firewood that I hawked.

I am from Otokutu, my uncle Tuesday Abiwaye told me to buy land then; an acre was about N100,000. I did not buy. Now you can’t get an acre for Ten million Naira.

Cars will loose value and get outdated, fashion will go out of vogue, but land always increases in value.

Don’t only follow the anointing of your general overseers, follow their wisdom. Imagine how the areas, where the campsites of Redeemed, Deeper Life, and Mountain of Fire and Miracles are now, along the Lagos/Ibadan expressway, were like 15 years back.

Imagine the foresight of Bishop David Oyedepo and the purchase of Canaan Land.

If you know how Ayobo in the Iyana Ipaja area in Lagos looked like, when Rev. William Kumuyi bought land there, then you will know our spiritual fathers had great insight about real estate.

Olorogun Micheal Ibru had a philosophy, “I will buy land anywhere a cock crows“. If you imagine where Ibru Jetty is now, looked like 30 years back, and what it is now, you will understand the difference between the very rich and the poor.

Imagine how the Lekki axis in Lagos looked like 10 years back?

That’s how Effurun-Otor will be described 10 years from now.

Don’t make the mistake most poor, educated, and religiously emotional people make.

Invest in a fertile, peaceful, and fertile land.
