Anchoring The Future In Capable Hands

Another Birthday Wish From A Diaspora Apoki all the way from Bucharest, Romania.

Ufuoma Chima Apoki is my third child and second son. He is the younger brother to my daughter, Ejiro, the administrator of Petra Christian Academy, Ughelli.

Engr. Ufuoma had a BEng Degree in Computer Engineering and a Masters Degree in Software Engineering from one of the most prestigious Universities in Eastern Europe, where he scored an average of 83.3%. He currently is rounding up his PhD in Computer Science. He has been to the United States of America twice to work. This was consciously done to expose him and his younger brother, Ese, to management standards of Europe and America. He is a prolific writer and author of several books.

He administers all my social media platforms. He started writing and editing my books from the age of 13 years. He had his own very profitable business while he was still in the University. Like all my children, he is involved with different aspects of the family institutions and ministry.

Based on his exposure and experience, I have very capable hands to run Petra Institute, Effurun-Otor. I have always admired enduring family businesses like the Sabanci foundation in Turkey and Smithfield Feeds in the United States of America.

The concept of sharing the assets of a dead parent is partly responsible for the short lifespans of businesses in Nigeria, especially the Niger Delta. Each child can have his or her own side-businesses, but the family business and legacy must be consolidated and improved upon, from generation to generation.

The tendency to abandon family institutions to get jobs, in businesses established by other families, is a very sickening to me.

The interest of our children should not primarily to enjoy the benefits of a legacy, but to develop capacity and competencies to take it to a higher level.

    God Bless You
