EVERY MESSAGE YOU PREACH MUST HAVE THE FOLLOWING E’s
E1 – It must EDUCATE.
If you talk about Nebuchadnezer’s illness, the Professor of Medicine there should learn that he suffered from lyncatropy. He should also know that to sweat blood is haematidrosis, when you talk about the agony of Gethsemane.
E2 – It must EMANCIPATE.
It must free people from their fears, ignorance, religious obsqurantism, and their mental and political slavery.
MANY NIGERIAN POLITICIANS, RELIGIOUS LEADERS, AND THE ELITE ARE SO SCARED OF A PREACHER WHO DARES TO TEACH THE PEOPLE THE TRUTH THAT WILL SET THEM FREE.
A PREACHER THAT IS AFRAID TO PREACH THE TRUTH IS NOT WORTHY OF HIS CALLING.
MEN WILL HATE AND CRITICIZE YOU, BUT GOD WILL VINDICATE YOU.
E3 – It must EMPOWER and ENERGIZE.
A lot of people come to church downcast, depressed, and even confused. Your message must raise their inner man such that they are ready and determined to confront their Goliaths.
Your message must encourage people to dare to stand and be different.
It must add value to their lives.
E4 – It must EVANGELIZE.
It must teach the deeper mysteries of the Bible.
The servant that returned with 10 talents paid rent, ate, transported, and had other expenses. This implies that he earned more than 10 talents. It also shows that integrity without productivity is not rewarded, just like the servant who returned the one talent intact could be described by very unproductive Nigerian Christians working for a strict businessman as having integrity because he did not touch his Master’s money.
If Zaccheus could offer to refund 4x of what he wrongly took from people, then he was a wise investor and very diligent; better than corrupt and wasteful Nigerian politicians.
Christ is interested in the conversion of our wrongly-applied potentials to good works. Your message must make Jesus more attractive to the unbeliever and draw men closer to God.
The greatest evangelical tool is the tangible evidence in your life.
E5 – It must EXCITE.
Without being wild, your message must excite your listeners. Young people have a short attention span; you must arrest their attention.
E6 – It must ENTERTAIN.
It should have a trace of intelligent humour that is used to transmit very bitter truths.
I MUST ADD THAT YOU MUST NOT ALLOW YOURSELF TO BE DICTATED TO BY ANYONE WHAT TO PREACH ONCE YOU HAVE HEARD THE HARD TRUTHS FROM GOD.
YOU MUST NOT BEND YOUR MESSAGE TO MAKE PEOPLE COMFORTABLE.
NIGERIANS FEAR THE TRUTH AND A MAN WHO DARES TO CHALLENGE THEIR WRONG ATTITUDES TO LIFE.
God will raise you to preach with great grace in Jesus name amen.
